Hearing Protection
Ear protection has become increasingly specialized, and finding the best hearing protection depends on where you’ll use it and what features you require. It’s important to protect your ears in various situations, including water sports, during sleep, at concerts, in the workplace, and with activities such as shooting or motorsports.
It is important to take proactive measures to look after your auditory health and maintain your hearing, Whether you’re looking for ear defenders to mow the garden, custom musician’s hearing protection to play in your band, or headphones with Bluetooth technology so you can communicate with co-workers on-site, we’ve got you covered.
What Happens if You Don’t Wear Hearing Protection?
Loud sounds of 85 decibels for more than 8 hours can cause permanent hearing loss. That’s actually not as loud as many people think. Even everyday noises such as a lawnmower, or leaf blower are louder than that. And you don’t need to be around loud noise all day to cause damage. Your headphones can emit sounds as loud as 110 decibels. If you’re exposed to loud noise during part of your day, and then listen to music later, you can develop a hearing loss. Construction workers can have permanent hearing loss after just one day of work.
Custom or Instant Fit Hearing Protection
We offer a range of both instant fit or custom moulded Hearing Protection
Custom-made earplugs are moulded to fit your unique ear canal shape, providing a secure and comfortable fit. They allow fo the preservation of sound quality while reducing overall noise levels.

Ear Wax Removal
Everyone has some ear wax, in fact it is healthy and normal to have a thin layer of wax, as it protects your outer ear, trapping dirt and repelling water to prevent infections. Usually, the ear will clean itself and wax will naturally work its way out of the ear, but if it builds up and becomes impacted it can become the problem and require removal.
Symptoms of earwax build-up include:
For a mild wax build-up, using an Olive Oil ear drop or spray for three to five days can clear the wax. Provided you know of no contra-indications for using Olive Oil.
For more moderate wax build-ups you may need to see an Audiologist or Ear Care Practitioner to have the wax professionally removed.
At the hearing lounge we are fully trained in microsuction, which is the safest form of wax removal. During this procedure, a clinician will use a microscope to look into the ear canal and a very tiny suction device to suck out the wax. We offer wax removal as part of a holistic patient pathway, when required and offer a packaged price for this service, with any of our other appointments.
The wax removal element is priced as follows:
£50 for one ear
£80 for two ears
